The Kitchen: Rags, Scrunchies, and Towels

The kitchen – Cleaning rags, scrunchies, and towels

What you clean with in the kitchen, or in the rest of the house, needs to be clean in order not to carry germs from one rooms to the next. For example, the same rag that you clean in the bathroom for your toilet is not the same cleaning rag that you will use in your sink in the kitchen.

A small bucket or baggy under the sink in the kitchen and one in the bathroom will help you keep your rags and germs separate. You also might want to consider just using paper towels in the bathroom for wiping up cleaners if you have a hard time keeping your rags separate.

After any cleaning spree, you know, the deep clean that becomes organized, you need to wash your cleaning rags. You can soak your cleaning rags in bleach over night or wash them in the washer for the best germ fighting. If you have cleaning rags that you use just to clean out the sink with after dinner, you might want to just keep that in the ‘under the sink’ area or hang it on a bucket in the laundry for use all week long so you always have one on hand.

Towels, rags, and other scrubbies or scratchies that are too soiled to be cleaned properly should be thrown away. Keeping a fresh supply of rags and towels is easy; just use old bath towels, t-shirts, or other articles from the house you do not use any more – like sheets!
