The Master Bedroom : Deep cleaning

The master bedroom - Deep cleaning

Deep cleaning is no fun, and we all realize that. But, once you deep clean your master bedroom you really shouldn’t have to do it again for about five or six months because this is a room in the home that you are only in to sleep in. you don’t spend your time here as you do in the living room and surely not like you do in the kitchen. So, let’s get to deep cleaning in the master bedroom!

Just once or twice a year you are going to have to clean the walls and ceilings in your bedroom. If you are a smoker, you might want to do clean more often. Simply wiping down the walls and ceiling with a soap and water, clean hot water is sometimes all you need, but it is going to depend on what type of walls you have. Paneling needs polished, ceramic needs dried after you clean it so you don’t leave streaks, and drywall or plaster needs a good scrub to get up all the dust from the last few months.

Your deep cleaning tasks will include cleaning the lights in the master bedroom, switches, and the outlets. Simply wiping all the dust from them is going to be a good start. If you have grease or smoke covering, wipe with bleach and water, soap and water or your favorite cleaner.

Deep cleaning in your bedroom is going to include flipping the mattress, sweeping it off, and using baking soda or carpet spray on the mattress if it needs deodorized. Sweeping off the mattress, both sides, is going to help keep dandruff, dust and hair to a minimum for those suffering from allergies, plus it is going to keep odors to a minimum.

Drapes and curtains in the master bedroom should be taken to the drycleaners or run through the delicate cycle to keep them dust free for a few more months. Cleaning drapes and curtains will keep odors from sticking to them.

Blinds will need cleaned. You can soak blinds in the tub or you can simply dust them off with a rag, it all depends on how dirty they really are. Dusting and washing blinds will prolong their life. Dirty dusty blinds make your entire room look dirty and dark. A rag wet with hot water is often enough to dust with around the windows to pick up dust.

In the bedroom that has any type of wood trim or wood windows, you will need to polish or oil the woodwork. Polishing and oiling the woodwork keeps dust to a minimum and it is going to prolong the life of your woodwork. Wood trim can dry out and crack if you do not polish or oil it at least once a year or more.

Electronics in the bedroom such as your television, VCR, DVD or stereo will need a good cleaning. Moving these items and cleaning underneath as well as all the wires that connect them will keep your home gleaming clean, and prolong the life of these items. Dust inside of electronics will make their cooling fans work harder and can cause fires if the dust is just too much.

Don’t forget that your deep cleaning should always include floor care. If you have carpeting in the bedroom, you need to scrub the carpets once or twice a year. Treating stains that have been forgotten about before, will keep your bedroom looking great. If you have hardwood flooring, vinyl or ceramic tile in the bedroom, be sure to clean and complete any maintenance on your flooring during your deep cleaning sessions for a gleaming home that you can be proud of!
