The Cleaning Book Clean til' it gleams

Living room: Storage boxes

Living room –Storage boxes

You will find that stuff your family collects, plays with and works with are always and forever ending up in the living room to make your room look more cluttered and dirty than what it really is. Putting stuff in storage boxes, all the time, is going to help keep your entire room looking lovely.

First lets tackle toys – toys are always a sign of the times when you have children in the home. Toy boxes are now created in so many sizes and types that you can find a toy box that will fit your décor.  A toy box could be camouflaged as a bench or as a coffee table. Have the children learn to put their toys away every day. This is an every day ‘after you are done’ playing task that will need to be done. The toys that are put away everyday are hidden away for when company comes strolling in un-announced.

Work and computer items that seem to endlessly take over your living room can be put into end tables or coffee tables that have doors to hide and close up all the stuff that makes your room seem messy.  Every evening when you are done using your stuff, putting it away is going to keep your home gleaming clean.  If you have computer or electronic items that have special cases, you can store these cases behind the sofa in a bag or a box so they are out of the way but well within your reach when you want to use them. Entertainment centers with doors and drawers are also great for holding electronic items easily out of sight.

Hobby and crafts such as knitting, scrap booking, crocheting, coloring, painting, or what ever your hobby is should be kept in a large canvas bag or plastic container also. You can easily put this on the bookshelf, behind the television or under the end table when you are not working on your hobby or crafts and your living room area will be kept nice looking and cleaner. Too much stuff makes a room dirty looking even if you have spent the entire day cleaning!
