Living room: Lamps and lampshades

Living room –Lamps and lampshades

The lamps and lampshades in your living room are often something that you don’t think too much about cleaning. When you are cleaning your home on a weekly basis, dusting off your lamps is going to keep them from looking older than what they really are. You might be surprised if you haven’t cleaned your lamps in a few months, but the smoke, the grease and the dust can really build up and stick to lamps and lampshades in the living room area.

Lampshades can be best cleaned weekly by taking the drapery brush and lightly brushing over the lampshade. The vacuuming up of the dust off the lampshade will keep them looking nice and white for longer.

When you are taking a few minutes to wipe down the upholstery in your living room with a wet rag to remove hair from furniture, you can take a wet towel or clean wet rag and white lightly over your lampshades to remove dust and grime build up. This is a task that you should tackle about once a week or every two weeks, depending on how much dust your home actually does have. Some homes are known to be very dusty while others are not dusty at all.

If you have lampshades or even lamps that have decorations that always seem to fall off when you are cleaning them, do not get too worked up over the matter. You can clean your lamps or lampshades and then simply glue the decorations back on without too much extra effort at all. Dusting your lamps and lampshades will prolong their life because they will stay nicer looking longer.
