Living room: The ceiling |
|||
Living room – CeilingWhat is on your ceiling? Do you have a light fixture, a hanging planter, or a ceiling fan? The ceiling in your living space is going to be one area that will collect spider webs, dust, grease, and residue from smoking. If you find that you have a problem with spider webs, you can take a soft broom and sweep out the corners as needed. If you grease and smoke, you will need to climb up on the ladder or on a chair and wipe down the ceiling. Usually just hot soapy water is going to do the trick, but you can use most any type of household cleaner in your water like Lysol or even degreaser to clean the ceiling if you need to add more to your water. Light fixtures are going to need tackled about once a month, just wiping them down with a wet rags or a dust rag to keep build up from taking away from the light that is put through your room. Ceiling fans will collect dust like crazy. You can dust off the paddles on your fan every week or every other week as needed to keep them from looking yucky. Wood cleaners and rags wet with a polish are great for cleaning the paddles on fans. You can use any type of window cleaner to clean the glass on light fixtures that are attached to the ceiling fan. Often I will actually take down the glass part of the ceiling fans and wash them up in hot water to get all the dust off them. If you have wood trim in the living room up around the tops of the walls, you can wash these down with a good wood polish or wood oil while you are cleaning the ceiling. This is a cleaning task that doesn’t need done every day but about once a month to keep your wood trim in good shape for years to come. |
