The Kitchen: Walls and ceiling |
|||
The kitchen – Walls and ceilingPortions of your walls are going to need cleaned weekly so you can keep up, to be one step ahead of that deep down dirt from staying in and on your walls. When grease splatters and spills build up on the walls, your kitchen looks dingy. The areas behind where you cook and around the corners in your kitchen are going to get the dirtiest. Simply wiping these areas daily or weekly will keep them looking fresh and clean. Grease from cooking, oil from hands on the walls, and dirt brought into the kitchen always finds its ways to your walls. The ceilings in your kitchen are an area that you really are only going to need to wipe down occasionally. If you are a smoker, you might want to wipe down your ceilings about every three months to keep the nicotine from building up too much and making your paint look dingy. Wiping down the light fixtures on a monthly basis with soap and water will keep dirt and grease from building up in the kitchen. When you are cooking all types of fumes, smoke and grease will float in the air and land on your lights. While you wipe down the light fixtures, wiping dirt and grime off your switches and outlets would be good to prevent dirt from building up in the small cracks. You can use spray on bleaches on your paper towel or rag, or any of your favorite cleaning solutions to remove grease from your walls, ceilings, and light fixtures. Be sure if you have stainless, ceramic, or other type of tile in the kitchen that you use the cleaning solution ‘made’ for these types of materials safely. Cleaning the walls and ceiling in your kitchen is one of the tasks that you can do periodically to stay ahead of the dirt getting deep in your walls. Periodically cleaning your walls will enhance the smells and kill odors in your home as well. |
