The Cleaning Book Clean til' it gleams

The Kitchen: Throw rugs

The kitchen – Throw rugs

Rugs in the kitchen make the kitchen look nicer, feel warmer, and will stop some of the dirt from your kitchen from being tracked into other areas of your home. Spills, grease, and messes, on the kitchen floor, when you are cooking or serving dinner, can be stopped in their tracks by having a few throw rugs in your kitchen.

Your throw rugs will need ‘shook’ out the door every few days when you sweep the floor. Shaking crumbs and pet hair from your rug will make your kitchen stay cleaner longer, preventing the need for those deep cleaning ‘sessions’.

Washing your rugs about once a month keeps your throw rugs looking nice and bright. Dirty looking rugs can make your entire kitchen look bad or dirty. How often you have to wash your throw rugs and what you are washing your rugs in will really depend on what type and size rugs you have. Large bulky rugs put out on the line and hosed down to clean while small rugs thrown in the washer come clean easily. Remember rubber backed rugs should not be put in the dryer so they do not dry out and melt.
