The Kitchen: Germs in the kitchen

The kitchen – Germs in the kitchen

We all have germs in the kitchen, no matter how much we clean and how careful we are. To keep germs and bacteria from taking over your kitchen there are a few simple rules to follow.

Never put your raw meats on anything that you aren’t going to wash off quickly. Bacteria from raw meat on a cutting board can spread germs to your salad when you cut on the same space without washing it off.

When you bring in your groceries, wrapping your raw meats well before putting them in the freezer or in the refrigerator is going to keep any blood from dripping in the refrigerator before you are eating this meat.

Spills in the kitchen should be cleaned up as they happen to keep germs and bacteria from getting any kind of a start in growing.

Change the sponges or dish rags that you use in the kitchen at least once a week, more often if you have a large family and do lost of cleaning all the time.

Be sure to use hot water when washing dishes, cleaning the counters and when cleaning anything in the kitchen so you can kill off germs and bacteria even when you can’t see them.
