The Cleaning Book Clean til' it gleams

Outside of your home: From the curb

Outside - From the curb

Pulling in your driveway, your guests, your parents, and your family will receive their first impressions of your home. First impressions are important and they are a lasting impression on all those who drive by or visit your home. How others perceive you might not really be on the top of your list of importance, but a good standing in the neighborhood with cleanliness and in an orderly fashion should be important to you.

From the curb, what you do you first notice about your home? Some of the things you might notice first are the flowers that line the driveway, the garbage can sitting at the head of the driveway, or the cracks and potholes in the driveway. What you first take notice about should be something that you should consider fixing or taking advantage of.

Coming in your driveway you will notice your mailbox if you live in the country. When is the last time you simply took a wet soapy rag and washed down the inside and out of your mailbox? Do you have spider webs, ants, or just weeds growing around the mailbox? Get the spider webs out, and cut back the weeds. You only really have to do this once a year to keep your mail carrier happy about sticking his or her hand in your mailbox!
