The Hallway: Cleaning the hallway |
|||
Cleaning the hallwayCleaning your hallway a little more, just once a week will help keep your home clean and sparkling. Using a wet rag with soap and water, or a soap cleanser, you can wipe the dirt marks from the children putting their hands on the walls all week long. You really do not have to clean the entire wall; just from your shoulders down will get all this dirt off. Taking a moist polish rag over the baseboard quickly will keep dirt from building up. This takes just a few seconds and can be done by you or the children. If you use lemon or orange oil you will freshen your hallway at the same time you are cleaning. If you haven’t cleaned the smoke alarm or the light off in some time, you will notice the flies and bugs leave you lots of little poo presents. A wet disposable will clean this off quick. You should clean your fixtures off about once a month just to keep the grease and dirt build up off your fixtures. Remember; if the light is hot, you can bust the light bulb using a wet cloth so only clean fixtures or light bulbs when they are cool! Your hallway is a melting pot of all the smells and odors from the ‘rest’ of your home because this is a center of how to ‘reach’ the other areas of your home. When you are in the hall, what do you smell? Do you find odors from the bathroom, the laundry, or the kitchen invades the hallway? Potpourri hung in the hall, scented candle displays, and carpet deodorizer sprinkled in the hall will help stop and block odors from other rooms. Walking through your hall, your senses should be aroused by the smells of flowers, a clean smell, or a natural breeze, not the odors that come from your laundry, kitchen or your bathrooms. In the hall, your spot cleaning weekly will consist of cleaning the walls where the children rub their hands all the time. Sweeping the flooring will keep the hair and dust under control for a clean look. Keep potpourri or scented candles around. In the hall, your deep cleaning will consist of wiping down the entire wall areas. Scrubbing the carpet or the flooring of your hallway is needed monthly. Wiping down the light fixtures and the wall hangings will keep this area looking great. |
